I tried to flee with my last character, but to no avail, he was struck down too, thus I failed the mission, and did not even reap any of the loot received along the way. I was not watching my fear levels, so I was shocked when this triggered three heart attacks at the same time, killing three of my four party members. All of a sudden, the Necromancer uses an attack that greatly increases each party member's stress level. Two had recently wandered to my estate seeking fortune the other two battle-ready veterans of past forays in the depths of the dungeon. Deaths never feel game-ending, and getting right back into the game feel less of a chore. There I was, about to kill a Necromancer with four powerful characters. It’s such an easy game to play and get into, with a surprising amount of content already included. Similarly, character portraits are intricate and surprisingly unique to each character that I’ve seen so far. The loading screens, while sometimes very slow, contain incredibly detailed artwork. It’s already clear that The Unliving has a firm grip on its art style. It could be the difference between using up bone fragments or giving up some of your life. Different abilities also require different resources, so use them carefully. There’s abilities that the necromancer uses and ones that relate to what the undead army does. Each one that I tried was pretty straightforward. As far as using skills goes, you can gain abilities for the necromancer or ones that relate to the undead army. When developer RocketBrush Studio says 100 abilities to unlock, that doesn’t seem like an exaggeration. Raising all your slain foes with the press of an ‘R’ key just to use them as a faceless, disposable army is a real power move. I apologize for not mentioning the actual necromancy until now, but don’t worry - it’s actually really fun to play with.
